Being Bold Is About Having Confidence

bold confidenceIf you want to be more bold, we’ll need to get you reaching for more confidence. If you ask several people what it means to be confident, you’ll get a wide variety of answers. People have visions in their head about what confidence means and often it is attributable to a type of person they view as being confident. For instance, many people think that people who are tall are confident. What pops up when you think of the word?

While we have preconceived notions as to who we feel are confident people, confidence is more about attitude and conviction. You’ll find plenty of people who fall outside those preconceived notions all the time.

Confidence is also about repetition.

For instance, if you continually use affirmations about yourself, your confidence is likely to increase over time. The key is to use them consistently. Yes, like the crazy SNL skit…I’m Good Enough, I’m Smart Enough, and Doggone It, People Like Me! lol They work after you get over feeling silly.

I think I’ve always used music as my affirmations. I wonder if it’s truly the same. I sing at the top of my lungs typically, absolutely on key always and it empowers me with confidence. Speaking of which…brb my pandora obviously timed out and how the hell am I supposed to get this blog post finished without some power tunes from Lizzo?! (I just took a DNA test, turns out I’m 100% that bitch)

Ok, I’m back, bet you can’t tell what song started up. Now it’s hard to write because I’m bouncing in my seat…dammers. I’m full of first world problems. ANYWAY!

Confidence becomes a type of feedback loop. When you become more confident, people will latch onto that and react in a positive way. This reinforces what you have done and you will continue to do it.

While confidence is a good trait to have, it’s important not go overboard into conceit. This will turn people off and your efforts to be more confident will be shunted. I don’t think it’s a very thin line so as long as you are not rubbing your DAMMITs in people’s faces you will be just fine. FYI, join the free DAMMIT, I Like This About Myself mini-workshop and you’ll learn all about what your DAMMITs are. They will help you rock the confidence.

It takes boldness to be confident.

It’s easier to hide in the background and do things the way you always have. When we gain confidence, it may require that your actions take you outside your comfort zone. EEEK!

It may even bring you to taking stands that are not popular and may be controversial. DOUBLE EEEK!

You want to be liked, but sometimes confidence allows us to do the right thing, even if everyone won’t be happy about it. Honestly, do you really want to be around people that don’t have the same strong ideals you do?

What you will find as you gain your confidence is you’ll dare to live a better life. Make no mistake, your life will change. People will be more drawn to you and you will get more done with their help. You will also get what you want more often as you go for it and ask for it. It’s exciting and scary at the same time. But, it will be satisfying in the long run. It’s so worth it!

There will be some people that try to bring you down. When people recognize that you are confident, it has the potential to threaten their world. Your confidence may cause them to step outside their own comfort zone and not everyone is ready for that. However, you have to live your own life and not worry too much if those people are affected by your changes.

Live Boldly!
